St. Mark’s Catholic Church, located at the corner of Hyatt and Jackson Streets, will open the doors of its new church building Sunday, June 15, from 12:30 to 2 p.m.

“We cordially invite the community to come and visit us Sunday afternoon.  Our recently completed $1.2 million church building is the result of almost a decade of  parish pledges from church members, hosting yard sales, selling Christmas cards, collecting cans and selling recipe books,” Fr. Phillip A. Reaves, pastor, said.

Glenmary Home Missioners served the local parish for the 30 years St. Mark’s operated as a mission church ending in July, 2006.  The original church building will be renovated to be used as a chapel and parish hall.

“The dedication of Glenmary, some 100 families who make up the parish and the support of the Diocese of Little Rock have made our building possible.  There would be no place for Roman Catholics to worship in Drew County without these combined efforts through the years,” Scott Kuttenkuler, president of the St. Mark’s Parish Council, said.

Refreshments will be served visitors in the parish hall.
