SIMMONS BANK GRANT WILL SUPPORT UAM ADULT EDUCATION

Simmons Bank in Monticello recently presented the University of Arkansas at Monticello with a $2,500 grant to support workforce development. The grant will support students at the 11 UAM Adult Education centers in Southeast Arkansas. All services provided to students are free at the UAM Adult Education centers, including GED classes, Workforce Development Classes, WAGE (TM) Certificates, National Career Readiness Certificate, and other classes.
The only cost students incur throughout the UAM Adult Education Centers is the fee to take the official Arkansas High School Equivalency (GED) Test. Grant funds from Simmons will offset these testing fees through these GED scholarships. The grant will also allow UAM Adult Education to provide 2-3 short-term training courses including OSHA 10, WAGE (TM)/NRC, ServSafe, and Forklift Safety. “Each of these new courses are nationally recognized certifications and will help our students find gainful employment,” said Kaufman.
The UAM Adult Education enrolled more than 375 students last year at its 11 locations throughout Ashley, Chicot, Desha, Drew and Lincoln Counties.
