SEARK Reading Council First Meeting of the Year

SEARK Reading Council held their first meeting of the 2021-2022 school year on September 27, 2021at the Southeast Arkansas Regional Library with a Literacy Roundup theme. President Karen Robinson welcomed members and guests to our first meeting. Our guest speaker, Dr. Ted Nugent,President of the Friends of the Library and Coordinator of Composition at UAM, spoke on activities that the public library is using to reach the literacy needs of the community. The council is sponsoring a Student Writing Showcase this fall for all 2nd through 12th grade writer’s in our five county area. Forms will be emailed or hand delivered to schools. Deadline for entries is December 13, 2021. Contact Sara Daniell at sara.daniell@warrensd.org for more information. The council will also be accepting nominations for Literacy Educator, Community Leader and Agency in Literacy until March. Contact Karen Robinson at klynnetterobinson@gmail.com for more information. Our next meeting will be held January 24, 2022 at 6pm at the Monticello Intermediate School Library to celebrate the winners of the Student Writing Showcase Competition. We hope you can join us!
