School Districts Issue Statements about Most Recent Threat

This statement was issued by both local school districts, and addressed to Monticello School Parents and the Pirate Nation.

Though specifics are limited, we want to address information currently circulating on social media.
On August 20, the Little Rock FBI office issued a general awareness statement about information they received relating to a possible school shooting in Arkansas (Aug 29) and Kentucky (Aug 28). The FBI could not confirm the source of the reporting party.
Neither Monticello or Drew Central Public Schools are aware of any specific threat involving our school districts.
We assure you that we take your child’s safety seriously. District personnel will continue to communicate with the Monticello Police Department and the Drew County Sheriff’s Office over the coming days. We will take all necessary steps to protect your child; our Pirates.
