Ryburn’s Donates $2,500 to Monticello & DC Schools; Toyota to Match Donation
November 16th, 2011 by Mandy Moss
Benji Ryburn, of Ryburn’s Automotive Superstore, announced to the Monticello School Board that his company would be donating $2,500 to the district. Along with this donation, as part of a grant, Toyota will be matching the donation and giving an additional $2,500 to the schools.
The grant money is to be used for upcoming creative classroom projects and initiatives related to the improvement of student achievement. The funds may be used for various materials and supplies, such as books, software, technology, and art and lab materials.
During his presentation of the grant award to the board, Mr. Ryburn mentioned how happy his company is to support Monticello School District via donations to their various sports teams. He said to the Board, “You can buy vehicles locally for the same price… It would make it a whole lot easier for us, and I’m sure Carl Lucky would say the same thing, to buy those banners and support the schools if we could be included in the bidding process the next time you buy vehicles.”
Benji Ryburn went on to say that they have plans to provide the same grant to Drew Central School District.
“I know it’s going to make a lot of teachers in the district happy to get those funds.” – Bobby Harper
