Shortly after the hospital board meeting, Joan Carder, representing an extension of the Veteran Administration’s mobile unit that serves this area, asked for information about relocating their bi-monthly Monticello visit to the hospital parking area.

Members of the board who were still in the conference room listened closely to her request, but weren’t able to do more than welcome her to return to next week’s called meeting of the board, which was set to interview with a CEO Search Group, in order to have Ms. Carder make a formal request to the board. 

The request is basically for a spot on the hospital premises, to park the “service bus” during the every-other-week visit to Drew County.

The bus is a fully self-contained vehicle, complete with satellite, generator, lab, computer system, and exam room.

They are only asking for a location near Drew Memorial, so in the event that a V.A. patient needs emergency care, the Emergency Room is nearby.  Also having the radiology dept. of the hospital close is another benefit.
