Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at Wal-Mart

Monticello’s Wal-Mart recently held a ribbon cutting ceremony, in honor of it’s completely remodeled facility, the story below will give you more information about the improvements, and a “tour” the stores’s new features.

Aside from Couty Judge Damon Lampkin and Monticello Mayor Joe Rogers, other welcome guests included Tony the Tiger and Twinkie the Kid, who were welcomed by young and old.

Store manager Jeffrey Reynolds welcomed the guests.  Caleb Lamb sang the National Anthem, with Monticello’s National Guard presenting the flags for the program.  Wal-Mart associate, Christine Stewart, assisted by the UAM Cheerleaders led the group, which included many Wal-Mart associates, in the “Wal-Mart Cheer”.

Reynolds’ complimented the dedication of the Wal-Mart employees, and recognized other Wal-Mart staff from other stores, ncluding former Monticello store manager, Tony Hudson.

The Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon-cutting for the event.

Reynolds told Monticello that customers are encourage to pick up a store map at the front entrances, to assist them in finding their needed items.

The renovation included new fixtures, such as the register stations,

a new deli,

new coolers and refrigerated displays.

The electronics area has been expanded, and is now located in the rear of the store, where the old shoe dept. used to be.

As you look toward the tire and lube express area from electronics, customers are able to see well identified store dept. locations.

A new gun display also was added, shown here as a new muzzleloader was being added to the stock.

A computerized paint mixing dept. that can scan something that is brought in, to find a computerized color match.

The new pharmacy is shown here.

And Subway is back, now loacated in the center section of the front of the store, as is the new service desk.

As  always, when a large store remodels, customers find themselves looking for items that have moved.  This is when I was glad that I’d picked up one of those Store Maps.  It sure came in handy.

Congratulations to the many folks who helped with the many improvements.  You can be proud your work.

Everyone seems to have noticed the recent renovations at Wal-Mart, and many have been asking about what changes are taking place.

Shown above, the old pharmacy location will be the new Subway spot.  The pharmacy, which is operating out of the “temporary building” located near the general merchandise (south) entrance, will soon be moved into their new spot, which is in the former cosmetics area, shown below.  The current Subway area will be the future home of the new deli, which will be a new feature at the local store.

The shoe dept. has already moved to it’s permanent area, near where the bedding used to be.  The new display fixtures are pictured here.

There have been rumors that the craft and sewing departments were being done away with, but that is not true.  Their former location, shown here, is also undergoing the remodeling process.

According to store manager, Jeff Reynolds, “cut fabric” will be discontinued, but basically all other items will continue to be carried in the Monticello store.  Items such as sewing supplies, sewing notions, as well as craft items and scrapbooking items, will be available in the former shoe area.

The Monticello Wal-Mart will be getting new tiling, new fixtures, new registers, a new roof, and a new design; basically, it will be a new store.

Reynolds told MonticelloLive, “The new changes that I’m most excited to offer to our customers, include the new deli, expanded electronics area, and our new no-touch-restrooms.”

Plans include an expanded toy area, and increasing the electronics department to around four times it’s former size.

I want to congratulate all the people who made the renovation of walmart possible. Everybody did a really good job. It was kind of hard to find things at first when the work was still going on, but if I asked somebody even though they were busy moving things they would take the time to tell me where I could find what I was looking for. Its really like a whole new WalMart. Things are alot easier to find now with the big isle signs. Thank you for making it better! Good Job!
