Recognizing Substance Use Disorders Among Adults

This workshop is targeted for individuals new to the field of drug abuse and addiction issues. The workshop will focus on how we acquire our attitudes, beliefs, and perceptions about substance use and abuse.

The workshop will cover basic signs and symptoms of substance use, abuse, and dependence including the cycle of addiction. Participants will gain knowledge on how drugs alter thinking, feeling, and behavior as well as the impact of chemical dependence on family relationships.
Participants will reach a unique understanding of the impact of substance abuse on individuals through experiential activities throughout the workshop. You must register to attend this workshop. Space is limited to 24 participants for each training.

Lisa D. Davis, CADC, CCS, has 8 years experience in addiction treatment as a counselor, clinical supervisor and program director. She has worked with adults and adolescents in both residential and outpatient settings. Previously, she participated in the 1st ATTC (Addiction Technology Transfer Center) Arkansas Leadership Institute Initiative and developed protocols for Motivational Interviewing staff training and implementation in the residential setting. Currently, she is serving as a trainer and consultant in Motivational Interviewing for Mid-America ATTC, a clinician for Counseling & Psychology Services in Little Rock, AR, and Consultant and Clinical Supervisor for Sugarloaf Center in Heber Springs, AR.
