Prosecutor Requests Funderburg Victims Contact Office-Restitution Hearing Planned for Thursday in Criminal Fraud Case From 2005

November 9th, 2009 by Joe Burgess

According to Prosecuting Attorney Thomas Deen, a restitution hearing is scheduled in the criminal fraud case of former used car dealer Rick Funderburg, who pled guilty to theft of property and defrauding a secured creditor. The restitution hearing is set before Circuit Judge Sam Pope for Thursday, November 12 at 9:30 A.M. at the Ashley County Courthouse in Hamburg.

Funderburg pled guilty on December 16, 2005, to a total of 95 felony counts, and was sentenced to a prison term of twelve years, followed by an additional suspended sentence of 18 years. The prosecution was in connection with Funderburg’s operation of his Monticello used car business, Rick’s Auto Outlet.

The prosecutor’s office has requested that all victims in the criminal case who sustained an economic loss because of Funderburg’s fraud to contact the office at 367-9896. “Many victims’ problems with the title to their vehicles have been resolved, but we wish to seek restitution for all victims who ended up losing money due to fraud,” Deen said.

One Response to “Prosecutor Requests Funderburg Victims Contact Office-Restitution Hearing Planned for Thursday in Criminal Fraud Case From 2005”

  1. Ken Harper says:

If you were involved, please contact Mr. Deen’s office. If you know of someone involved, please let them know of the hearing. The US Bankruptcy Trustee’s office has around $250,000 for those harmed.

Please get your paperwork and make copies (2) for the Court.
