Potlatch in Warren to layoff 200
Published by Jeff October 12th, 2006 in News.
According to a news release from the Potlatch Corporation today, there will be “an indefinite curtailment at its Warren Lumber Mill. The curtailment is due to the cost of manufacturing operations exceeding lumber prices.” Approximately 200 employees will be affected by the curtailment.
The Warren operation produces mainly Southern yellow pine dimension lumber and has an annual lumber capacity of 225 million board feet. The mill was first constructed in 1882, incorporated as Southern Lumber in 1902 and acquired by Potlatch in 1956.

This is a sad thing for Warren. I have family members that will be directly affected by this. Potlatch is to Warren what Burlington was to Monticello.
