The New England Patriots defeated the New York Giants last nights by a score of 38-35, to complete the first undefeated 16-0 regular season in NFL history.

Also making history were Tom Brady’s 50th touchdown, Randy Moss’ 23 TD catch in  a season, and Monticello’s Cable system carrying the NFL network, although by accident.

NFL Network which carries many NFL games exclusively, including Thursday and Saturday night games, such as last night’s historic game, allowed NBC & CBS to simulcast their broadcast of the game.

Our local Channel 4 and 10 carry NBC programs. Our local Channel 11 & 15 are CBS affiliates.  This put the record-setting event of 4 different local cable channels.  The game was great, the coverage was excellent, and the decision to broadcast the game that way did sports fans a huge favor.

I should point out that the NFL Network did it’s best to make the game into a 3 hour long commercial for their network by encouraging all viewers to click on www.IWantNFLNetwork.com or call your local cable company to get them to carry NFL Network.  I guess it worked.  I think I’ll make a call on Monday.
