Prosecutor Asking for Public’s Help Locating Robbery Suspect

An arrest warrant has been issued by the Chicot County Circuit Court for
a 23 year old Monticello man, for residential burglary and theft of property.
The warrant was issued in connection with the burglary of a house on West
Daniels Street in Dermott on the morning of January 8. A quantity of
firearms and electronics were stolen from the residence.

Each year the Monticello Economic Development Commission in conjunction with the Monticello-Drew County Chamber of Commerce recognizes various individuals for their accomplishments. Among those honorees, are Teachers of the Year from each school district in the county. This year Drew Central’s Teacher of the Year hails from the high school.

A 2 vehicle collision at the intersection of HWY 425 and Ladelle road closed both lanes of traffic, at 7:45 Thursday morning.
A southbound Chevy Trailblazer and a northbound Toyota Camry collided head-on, with the Camry reportedly catching fire after the collision.
Monticello Fire & Rescue, Lacey-Ladelle fire department, Arkansas State Police, Drew County Sheriffs deputies, and Drew County OEM responded to the scene.
Beverly Burks to file for Circuit Clerk Office

Beverly Burks of Wilmar has announced that she will be a candidate for the office of Drew County Circuit Clerk in the May Democratic primary.
Burks, 47, has been employed as a deputy in the Drew County Clerk’s office for the past year. Prior to that, she served as editor of the Advance-Monticellonian for 14 years.

A Monticello man was stabbed multiple times, and assaulted with many different household “weapons” Friday night (including a beer can, a boot, and a space heater,) after he tried to separate the suspect and the girlfriend that he as allegedly fighting with.

A MLive reader noticed the new driving instructions painted on the City Square.
The sign says “Left lane must turn left,” but the arrow points right.
“Parking only” seems to be allowed on the left, even though parking places are on the right.
We’ll probably be covering wrecks on the square, today.

911 Call Reports Shotgun at Bar on New Year’s Eve

Numerous Drew County Deputies responded to the false 911 call, reporting a man with a shotgun at the River Bar & Restaurant.
The call came into Monticello dispatch around 11:30 pm, New Year’s Eve.
