A former city council member, who was also a candidate for the mayor’s position, will be in District Court, next week, on charges stemming from “harrassing” actions, statements, and texts, that he allegedly made or sent to 2 female UAM students.
The Drew Memorial Hospital board will hold a special called board meeting today at 11:30 am, to discuss their upcoming hospital expansion and renovation project.

Early Friday morning, two suspects used a concrete block to enter the front window at the Leprechaun’s Pawn Shop, on West Gaines St.
Six months ago, a Drew Countyman was last seen by his family, as he went hunting behind his house. He has not been seen since.
The Drew County 4-H Vet Science Club would like to thank the staff at Monticello Animal Clinic, Dr. Rocky Lindsey, Dr. Tabitha Norris, and Amber Hickerson for letting them observe one of their scheduled procedures.

3 Monticello firemen received the Arkansas State Firefighter of the Year award at the annual Arkansas state firefighters association conference in Hot Springs, last week.
They earned this prestigious award for their part in a rescue of a man who was trapped in a fire, and still alive today, because of the heroic actions of these men.

An ordinance was presented to amend Monticello City Code to amend the limitations of hours of operation of private clubs within the city limits, at Tuesday night’s meeting.
Attorney General Leslie Rutledge has announced the arrest of a Dermott woman by the Attorney General’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit.
According to Sheriff Mark Gober, on Sunday, June 28, 2015 at approximately 7:30 p.m. members of the Drew County Sheriff’s Office, Monticello Rescue / Dive Team, Arkansas Game & Fish and MASI Ambulance Service were dispatched to Lake Monticello (Hunger Run Access) to a vehicle running off into the lake. The local nurse, who was being sought in connection with the alleged April illegal abortion of a local woman was arrested Friday, on a warrant out of the Drew County Circuit Court.
Friday morning, the Arkansas State Police learned the a Virginia murder suspect was believed to be in southeast Arkansas. Here is the report from ASP’s Bill Sadler.
