Miyoshi (Leonard) Smith is the Drew County 911 Coordinator, dealing with mapping and addresses.  She has been with Drew County for 8 years.  Miyoshi considers the best part of her job to be meeting and serving the citizens of Drew County.

Miyoshi grew up in the Selma community, and was raised by her grandparents, Sandy and Birdie Leonard.  She graduated from Drew Central Schools, and plans to go to college sometime in the future.

She is a member of Sweet Hope M. B. Church, near Selma, and serves as theirChoir President, Youth Sunday School Teacher, and Youth Dept. President.  In addition, she is the Executive Officer of Union Singing #1, and a Girl Scout Asst. Troop Leader.  Miyoshi has recently been appointed to serve on the Drew Central School Board.

She has 2 children, both Drew Central students: Demetrius Ramone Smith a Senior who participates in basketball, football, cross country, tennis, and is active in many other groups at Drew Central;  and Iesha Marshae Smith, an 8th grader, who plays basketball and softball, as well as being involved in several school clubs on campus.

When asked about her goals for the future, Miyoshi answered, “to continue to keep God first in my life. Whatever He has for me, it is for me.”  She continued, “I just have to continue to trust and believe in Him.  All things are possible with God.”

Her hobbies include talking, trying to sing, coaching pee wee basketball, playing with kids, watching TV, and reading.

Miyoshi lists her favorites as:

Phrase-”The Lord is my shepherd”, and “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son,”

Restaurants-Red Lobster, Golden Corral, La Terraza, and Wendy’s

TV show-Law & Order

Movies-The Temptations, Five Heartbeats, Remember the Titans, and Facing the Giants

Actor-Denzell Washington

Music style-R&B, Gospel, blues, jazz, and a little country

Songs or hymns-I am Grateful, All I want to do is Bless Your Name, and Open My Heart

Book-The Bible

Sports teams-Tennessee Lady Vols basketball team, Phoenix Suns, San Antonio Spurs, and Minnesota Vikings

And her favorite scripture-”I can do all things, Though Jesus Christ Which strengtheneth me,” Phillipians 4:13

Whenever I’m in the courthouse, I always stop in, just to say hello, because it’s always good to see someone smile.

Give it a try, her office is next door to Judge Lampkin’s.

Thanks, Miyoshi Smith, for sharing your smile, and your One Monticello Life.

Congratulations , Miyoshi! Congratulations to MonticelloLive for such an excellent choice! I can’t say enough “good things” about Miyoshi - a great employee, a diligent worker, a wonderful mother, a dedicated parent; a sincere Christian - I could go on and on. I know she is also highly regarded as a wonderful daughter/granddaughter/ sister, niece and mom by her family too.
I was so pleased when she was appointed to the Drew Central School Board. She is a very special young lady.

    Marchelle (okay Miyoshi),
Congratulations girl! You deserve this recongition. Like Mrs. Lou Lambert said, “They could not have chosen a better person to honor”. Your dedication to your family, your church and your community shows in your day-to-day life. I admire the way you support your children in “everything” (have you ever missed a game or parent-teacher-conference?), you are a “SUPER MOM”. Girl, just keep pressing on and all your goals and dreams will obtained. You know, I think back to about 10 years ago when I became acquainted with you and I’ve realized that you have been the same from day one…THANKS! Again, Congratulations!

I am a former Drew County resident who just discovered this site. It’s a great way to keep up with what’s going on “back home.” I was pleasantly surprised to see Miyoshi (I know her as Marchell) being profiled. She has always been a sweet, sincere person and even when I ran into her about 2-3 years ago after having not seen her in several years, she was still that same sweet, friendly person. Her beautiful personality has not changed one bit. Just wanted to say that she’s an awesome choice for Monticello Live. Congrats, Sweetie!

    Blessings 2 U!
