Based on the amount of raises that were given to city employees in 2016, as well as the current status of the city finances, the budget committee is recommending that no raises be given to city employees in 2017.

An earlier video they said if the insurance deductibles were raised for city employees the money the city saved would basically equal out so enough would be saved to give normal 3% raises. Now they have agreed to raise the deductible and in return still give NO cost of living raises for 2017. Please explain if I am not understanding correctly but the way I see this is the city saved approximately 80,000 a year by raising the deductibles while each and every employee now has to pay not $500 per family member but $1200 per EACH family member more for insurance deductibles beginning January 2017. From my mathematical ability I see the city employees instead of gaining they lost even more then they already had this year. You may not always give but you sure don’t take away from your employees if you want to keep them.
