Newly Crowned 2018 Miss Arkansas USA Has Local Ties

The Miss Arkansas USA Pageant was held on Sunday, October 29, 2017 at the Fort Smith Convention Center. Lauren Weaver of Greenwood, Arkansas was crowned Miss Arkansas USA 2018 . Lauren is the daughter of Kristina Thomas of Greenwood, and Jeff Weaver, Hot Springs Arkansas. She is the granddaughter of Karen Donaldson. All formerly from Monticello, Arkansas.
Lauren is a senior Marketing major at the Walton School of Business at the University of Arkansas.
The pageant was held over two days, October 28th and 29th where contestants from all parts of Arkansas competed in evening gown, swimwear and interview categories. The judges were comprised of regional business men and women, many had experience in the modeling and pageant industry. Additional to winning the crown, Lauren won the Mentor Award and Overall evening gown award.
Lauren is a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority at the University of Arkansas where she will graduate in May. She works as model and interns for Lauren James Company in Fayetteville AR. In her free time she enjoys giving back to her community, exercising, hiking, and spending time with her family and dog Kane.
Regarding her win Lauren says, “I am so proud to represent the state of Arkansas at Miss USA this year. It has been a dream of my mine for a long time! It’s my goal to empower young women around Arkansas to get fit by healthy eating and exercising, and to become more civic minded by giving back to their community. During my reign, I plan to promote the importance of early detection of breast cancer in honor of mother, an eight year survivor. Fort Smith is close to home so I had a lot of people cheering and celebrating with me this weekend! Huge thank my family and friends for your incredible support! I cannot thank you all enough!”
VANBROS and Associates, Inc. produces the Miss Arkansas USA pageant annually along with the Miss USA qualifying pageants for five other states. Weaver will hold the Miss Arkansas USA title for a year and will go on to represent the state of Arkansas in the Miss USA pageant this summer.
