Murder Trial Prosecution Rests – Defense Calls Victim’s Roomate

The Demarcus Veasey murder trial prosecution rested at 10:30 AM., when the jury came back in and court resumed.
The defense began their presentation by questioning Veasey’s roommate, mainly about his relationship with Corey Bell.
MPD investigator Kenny Cox was recalled to the stand. He was questioned about how Bell’s passenger was used to locate the jacket, that Veasey allegedly threw out of the vehicle, on Willis Street.
Next up was the Arkansas State Police investigator, who was questioned about the investigation.
A specific point of interest became apparent when the defense attorney, Jimmy Morris of Little Rock, asked him how they developed Veasey as the primary suspect.
After an objection by prosecutor Frank Spain, Judge Bynum Gibson commented that if the defenses questions “open the door,” that other details in the case, (the motive for the case although it was not call that in the courtroom) would be allowed in.
Defenses final witness, Corey Bell, Closed out the morning, with a long, confusing series of answers to both attorneys questions.
