Murder Suspect Transferred on Helicopter Ordered for Murder Victim – Who Gets Bill for $25,000

April 25th, 2014 by

Air Evac stock photoOn Friday, March 14, Jonathan Woods fatally shot Samantha Poole on/near the Sav-A-Lot parking lot.

An Air-Evac rescue helicopter was called to transport the victim, but she died before the copter arrived.

Woods was then loaded on the helicopter, airlifted to JRMC in Pine Bluff, for what has been described as “his non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the left armpit area.”

Woods spent a few days in the hospital, then was incarcerated in the county jail.

Recently, the county received a bill for $45,000 for the helicopter transport. That amount was reduced to $25,000.

The first question now is who authorized the change of patients for the transport.

The second question is who is going to pay the $25.000 debt.

More discussion on the issue is expected by the next Quorum Court meeting.

  1. Greg Sanson says:

    simple, the tax payer.

  2. Jennifer says:

The bill should go to him. He incurred it.

  3. Duh! says:

He should pay. No question about it. If he hadn’t shot her this wouldn’t be an issue. He should be responsible even if she had lived to ride in it. I don’t even know why it’s an issue.

  4. Jen says:

Too bad the city can’t make him financially responsible, being that he caused this mess.

  5. Ashley says:

Whoever road in helicopter is who should get the bill!!

  6. Amber says:

The tax payer is already spending plenty for him while he lives his luxirous life in jail. Yes, I say luxurious because mr woods is the one still living. The local hospital was more than capable of treating me woods “self-inflicted” gunshot wound. Transportation to JRMC was not necessary, especially by helicopter. Whom ever made the decision to transport mr woods should be responsible for the bill.

  7. hmmm says:

not like the city can’t afford it with all the other times they have
    wasted money

  8. Not In My Town says:

Send it to him and he should spend extra time working it off while he is on the Farm because he is going to prison. Sorry sack!
