Multiple Arrests Made in Drew County Drug Charges

July 6th, 2009 by Joe Burgess

According to Sheriff Mark Gober, with information received by the Drew County Sheriff’s Department, a search warrant was issued for a residence on Guthrie Street in Monticello. In route to the residence, a vehicle was spotted leaving the home. That vehicle was stopped and detained. The driver of the vehicle, Johnathan E. Smith, age 24 of McGehee, was arrested and charged with driving on suspended license, possesion with intent to deliver, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession with intent to manufacture. Sheriff Gober said that Smith had in his possession approximately six (6) grams of crystal methamphetamine. The substance was sent to the crime lab for analysis. Johnathan Smith remains in the Drew County Detention Facility on a $40,000 bond.As Johnathan Smith was being arrested, member of the Sheriff’s Department and Drug Task Force executed the search warrant of the home on Guthrie Street. After completion of the search warrant, officials arrested Christopher R. Poirrier, age 26 of Monticello, and Samantha A. Pruitt, age 38 of Tillar. Poirrier was charged with possession of controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was booked into the Drew County Detention Facility and released on his own recognizance. Pruitt was charged with possession of controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and furnishing prohibited articles into a correctional facility, as what appeared to be methamphetamine was found on her as she entered the jail. Her bond was set at $1,000 commercial bond. Pruitt bonded out Tuesday, June 30.
