Mother’s Day celebrations take place all around the world, although at different times. The feelings are the same no matter where in the world it is that you may celebrate Mother’s Day.
Children and their husbands love to celebrate Mother’s Day with their Mother’s (or mother of their children), showering them with love or remembering them with love.
How will Mother’s Day be celebrated? It’s up to you! Many mothers are honored by a special prayer service held at their church honoring them or their precious memory. The most common method of celebrating Mother’s Day is to treat mothers with breakfast in bed. Children allow their mothers to sleep in late in the morning, while they; along with their father, totally mess up the kitchen and prepare her favorite breakfast. Don’t forget to clean up the mess you make and the dishes, its Mom’s day off!
Usually a Mother’s Day card, balloon and a bunch of flowers accompany the “bon appétit “breakfast you prepared. You don’t have to go out and buy a Hallmark card for your mother, although Hallmark sure appreciates your business. A child or husband can prepare a card themselves. Often times a specially made card is received better than a Hallmark card, sorry Hallmark.
When it comes to gifts, children and husbands really don’t have to go out and buy a gift. It’s often that a handmade gift is appreciated more than a store bought gift. Of course, grown-up children prefer to buy gifts from the stores ranging from cloths, accessories and jewelry. Cakes, cookies and pies are the favorite dishes prepared on the occasion of Mother’s Day. There will also be the opportunity to go out for family picnics and visit relatives and friends and just have fun. On Mother’s Day, children should make an extra special effort to be nice to their mom and give her a days’ rest. It is a wonderful idea to complete household chores on this day and make your mom feel that you sincerely appreciate the importance of what she does to run the house so smoothly. You will quickly find out what “oh, she’s just a house mom” really means! I for one, will gladly, keep my day job, over “just a house mom”.
Mother’s Day has probably gotten to be too commercialized and it is often best to try to find a way to spend the day with your mother and your grandmothers to make them feel special. If you can’t visit your mom on Mother’s Day, call her on the phone, send her a card or small gift to express your gratitude and love for them.
If your mother is no longer with you, pause and thank God for giving her to you, to guide you and set you on the proper path; teaching you to do the right thing, and when you failed, she was there to forgive (never forgetting, most have a memory like an elephant, mine did) and resetting you in the right direction.
How do you spell mother? Mother can be spelled in many ways.
M – Is for the million things she did just for me.
O- Is for the countless offers made to always “help me” – with love, advice and inspiration.
T – Is for the values she taught, tears shed and tender loving care.
H- Is for the happy heart of wisdom, care, concern, compassion and patience she always had and I am always working to have.
E- Is for the eternal love, faith and compassion given with stead fast love that are. Now and always will be with you; all the days of your life.
R- Is for always teaching me right from wrong, advising to “always do the right thing”.
All that spells Mother – I challenge each of you to spell out for yourself what the word “Mother” means to you. Anyway you think of the word “Mother”, it is a word built on heart, faith, joy, wisdom, passion, inspiration and love. A Love that will be with you; now and forever, delivered by angels and sent from God above.
