Drew Central Junior Killed in Crash
December 16th, 2009 by Joe BurgessJesse Cash, age 16, of the Florence Road community, was killed in an automobile accident around 7:55 pm, Monday night. Cash was a junior at Drew Central High School.
The wreck occurred .2 of a mile north of the Ashley-Drew County line, on HWY 425 South.
According to preliminary reports, Cash’s 1990 Nissan pick-up was traveling north, and crossed the center line, into the path of a loaded chip truck, which was traveling south.
The front of the big rig traveled a distance from the scene of the impact, and caught fire, in part from the diesel spill.
Monticello Fire and Rescue responded, as did Lacey-Ladelle Fire Dept., and Ft. Hill Fire Dept.
Arkansas State Troopers worked the scene, assisted by Drew County Sheriff’s deputies.
Cash was pronounced dead at the scene by the deputy Drew County Coroner.
The driver of the chip truck, also a Drew County resident, was not injured.

We had many fun times traveling back and forth in the “church van”. I could always count on Jesse to do whatever I asked of him. And even though we may not have seen eye to eye on everything he was always respectful to me. The little kids loved him because he always made time for them. He will truly be missed. I know that God has a plan to turn this tragedy into something that will bring Honor to Him. He will also provide the comfort we need to get through the loss of Jesse. I am hear if you need me.

We got to know Jesse last summer. He was a very close friend of my Grandson and was at our home Sunday night. All of us here loved him. He was a very respectful and fun loving boy who will be missed by many. God bless his family.
Thoughts and prayers are going up for this family right now. After the kids grow up and get out of elementary, we don’t see them very much anymore. However, I did get to see Jesse a few times. I know he was a sweet boy. To all the DC students (especially JT) the elementary office is thinking of you all!
