Monticello Occupational Education Center Machine Tool Progam Receives $10K Grant

The Monticello Occupational Education Center Machine Tool program received a $10,000 grant from the Gene Haas Foundation.
The Haas Cooperation is one of the largest CNC manufacturers in the world. They have invested several million dollars in the education at the high school and college level.
The grant was awarded through an application process and can be reapplied for annually.

Monticello Occupational Education Machine Tool students competed in the Skills USA Precision Machining competition held in Hot Springs.
John Vance placed first and was awarded a two year full tuition scholarship. Ty Burton placed second and Luke Ashbaucher placed third.
The Machine Tool program is directed by Darrell McDaniel in his fourteenth year as the instructor. Ten students in the program were able to get a ten hour OSHA approved safety certificate by completing a rigorous curriculum. Funds for the CareerSafe curriculum was provided by Perkins funding through the South East Arkansas Educational Coop.
