Monticello Music Club Announces March Meeting – Tuesday
March 3rd, 2013 by SubmittedThe March meeting of the Monticello Music Club will be held Tuesday, March 5, at 7:00 p.m. in the sanctuary of the First United Methodist Church. The program will feature music from the great Broadway musical “Showboat”. Performers on the program will include Cara Akin, Kevin Henry, Ashley Gonzalez, Bobby Brown, Craig Grantham and Kathy Lyon. The Monticello High School Madrigals, under the direction of club member Bennie Vincent, will also be performing. The Junior Club student performer will be Katelyn Bayliss, a piano student of Mrs. Beverly Lobitz.
Jessica Wishard represented the Jr. Club last moth, by playing and singing a song she composed..
The Monticello Music Club has been in existence for 90 years, having been founded in 1923. Affiliated with the Arkansas Federation of Music Clubs and the National Federation of Music Clubs since 1924, the local club’s purpose is “to develop the culture of musical art in the city of Monticello”. In addition to hosting monthly meetings spotlighting local musicians, the club sponsors a college scholarship for a local musician each year to further their musical studies, and supports Inspiration Point Fine Arts Colony in Eureka Springs.
The upcoming meeting of the Monticello Music Club is open to the public. Admission is free and everyone is invited to a great evening of live music.
