Monticello Family has a “Dream Season”
March 3rd, 2010 by Submitted
Doug Hampton, a Monticello resident and Drury Outdoors team member, along with his wife Brandy and 13 year old son Coltin, were chosen this past fall to be a part of the popular Outdoor Channel television show “Dream Season.” The title for this year’s show is Dream Season 7 “Celebrity”. Four of the regular Drury teams were asked to take on a national celebrity for a hunting partner, as well as hunt and video their immediate family.
Hampton and team mate Rod Owen of Missouri, teamed up with J.W. Hart from the Professional Bull Riders association(P.B.R.) to form “Team Hart”. Team Hart took twelve animals on video this season consisting of eleven bucks and a boar hog. Hampton and his family accounted for five of the bucks and the hog.
Doug Hampton took three bucks in three different states, all scoring in the 140′s, as well as the hog which was taken in Arkansas with a bow. Not to be left out, Hampton’s wife and son ended up stealing the show! On December 7th, Brandy Hampton took her first buck, a 151 & 4/8″ Kansas bruiser with a muzzle-loader during the regular firearms season. Just three days later, Coltin Hampton harvested the family’s largest whitetail ever, a 165 & 5/8″,13 point Kansas stud. Doug was behind the video camera to capture both of the hunts.
Dream Season “Celebrity” will air this July on the Outdoor Channel. For the detailed stories of the hunts, as well as still frames from the footage, click on the links below:
