REPORT FROM MONTICELLO CITY COUNCIL, OCT. 4

The Monticello City Council met in a called meeting, Thursday evening.

Items discussed included bleachers for sports complex, cellular tower on city water tank, and ongoing problems with McCloy Park pool.

 Members present included, Clifton Bond, Claudia Hartness, Tim Chase, Al Peer, Carolyn Brown, Raymond Hubbard, Sherrie Gillespie, and Mayor Joe Rogers.

The council approved a resolution accepting bids for bleacher for the sports complex.

There are to be eight sets of bleachers, five rows high, which seat 58 spectators: and two sets of bleachers, eight rows high, which will seat 91 people each.

Each set of bleachers is to be twenty-one foot long.

The council then approved a resolution permitting the Mayor to proceed with the authorization process to lease space to Cingulair to place a cellular antenna on the city water tower.

Next was a lengthy discussion about the ongoing problems with the McCloy Park pool.

Mayor Rogers is scheduled  to meet with the city’s engineer this month, and will provide a more in depth report at the next council meeting.

The final item of business dealt with authorizing the city to dispose of scrap metal for salvage value.
