Jim Towers wins the Monticello Bass Club tournament at Pool 2.

Jim topped 31 anglers to take the win at Pool 2 of the Arkansas River on Saturday August 18. The anglers were greeted with rainy conditions and a tough river bite. There were only four limits weighed in. Jim was able to catch 3 bass for 11.65 pounds. This was the second tournament in a row won with three fish. Here is how the top 4 finishers caught their fish:

1st - Jim Towers - 3 bass - 11.65 pounds

Jim stated he caught one keeper on a chug bug. The other two fish were caught on a frog in the moss in about 1 ½ foot of water. All these fish came from Coal Pile. Jim stated he lost two more really nice fish that were bigger then the ones he weighed in. He said he lost one at the boat that was in the 5 ½ pound range!!!!

2nd - Buck Henderson - 5 bass - 11.13 pounds

Buck stated he caught his fish on a crankbait in the river on the rocks. His sack was anchored by a 5.28 pound “Gorilla”, which was the big bass of the tournament.

3rd - Philip Starks - 4 bass - 10.93 pounds

Philip stated he caught his fish on a blue and black Berkley Power Worm in the backwater. He also stated he had a great guide. His guide was his son Adam Starks, who didn’t fair as well as his dad on this day.

4th - Caleb Lane - 5 bass - 10.83 pounds

Caleb “Money Man” Lane continues his hot streak of taking everyone’s money. He started the day off by catching a keeper on a buzzbait. Then he caught the rest on a crankbait and black/blue flash Eakins jig.

Big Bass - Buck Henderson - 5.28 pounds

Buck caught this fish on a crankbait in the river on the rocks.
