Mississippi Businessman Creates Endowed Forestry Scholarship
Published by UAM News January 4th, 2008 in UAM News.Mississippi businessman Curtis Kyle, Jr., recently presented a $20,000 gift to the University of Arkansas at Monticello Foundation Fund to created an endowed scholarship in forest resources.
The scholarship will honor Kyle’s father, Curtis W. Kyle, Sr., and will be presented annually to a full-time undergraduate student from Arkansas majoring in forestry. Recipients will be chosen by the scholarship committee of the UAM School of Forest Resources.
Curtis Kyle, Jr., is a 1958 graduate of what was then Arkansas A&M College and built a successful insurance career in Yazoo City, Miss., before moving to Jackson. His father was a long-time employee of Crossett Lumber Company and Georgia-Pacific Corporation.
“We are grateful to Mr. Kyle for his generous support of the university and our program in forest resources,” said UAM Chancellor Jack Lassiter. “This is a wonderful tribute to his father and a lasting legacy for the future.”
The Curtis W. Kyle Sr. Forestry Scholarship is the second endowment created by Curtis Kyle, Jr. He previously created the Curtis W. Kyle Family Scholarship in the UAM School of Business.
