Fourth and fifth grade teachers at Monticello Intermediate School recently held Benchmark conferences with parents and students on an individual basis. Parents were given an appointment to come in to discuss their child’s scores on the Arkansas Benchmark exam administered last spring.

These conferences gave the teachers an opportunity to share the results with the child and the parent and discuss the areas of strength as well as areas of needed improvement. Ways of assisting the child to improve in those needed areas were also outlined. Participation level was very high and the conferences proved to be a positive means of communication between teacher, parent, and student. Third grade conferences will be scheduled in the near future for the parents of third grade students to meet with teachers concerning their child’s scores from last spring’s SAT-10 exams.
