Governor Mike Beebe announced the appointment of Monticello High School Principal Kenny Pennington to serve on the Arkansas Pygmalion Commission on Nontraditional Education.

Grant Tennille, of the Governor’s office, described the committee’s purpose as being in a position to research, investigate, and report back to the Governor’s office on ways to improve the education process for the students that don’t respond to regular educational settings and practices.

Tennille said, “Mr. Pennington’s years of service in the education field will be an asset to this committee.”

Principal Pennington has been with the Monticello School District for 11 years.  He was the High School Assistant Principal for 4 years, before serving the past 7 years as High School Principal.

He will replace Wayne Haver on the committee, and will serve until June 30, 2011.
