forensics.JPGTwo Monticello High School Forensic Team members, Nikki Young and Maggie Daniel, competed in Improvised Duet Acting, earned Superior ratings and advanced to finals at the Ft. Smith Southside Forensic Olympiad.  Daniel also earned enough competition points to earn membership into the National Forensic League and may now don the esteemed Red & Silver honor cords at graduation.  Advancing to semi-finals were Kabrescha Binns and Jessica Pertuis with an excellent rating in Duet Acting.  These 4 team members are now qualified to compete at the State Tournament of Champions in April.

          Brooks Ashcraft - Improvise Duet Acting (E), Duet Acting (E)
          Brett Hammett - Humorous Interpretation (E), Improvised Duet Acting (E)
          April Greenway - Duet Acting (E)
          Jessica Pertuis - Solo Acting (E)
          Emily Hilton - Poetry Interpretation (E)
          Rachel Brown - Solo Acting (E)
 
Layne Lewis and Olivia Vaughn rounded out the team with good performances in duet acting, solo acting, and extemporaneous speaking.  Also Ft. Smith Southside recognized the MHS team with a special award for outstanding sportsmanship.  Debbie Ashcraft, the MHS NFL Coach received a medallion in appreciation for an exhibition debate performance.  The team is also coached by Christy Brown.
