MHS BULLETIN–11/04/2009

November 4th, 2009 by Monticello Schools

The Powder Puff Football Game will be Tuesday night.. The cost is $1.00 all proceeds go to buy Christmas Presents for children.

Students: Just a reminder that when you get ready to take the written part of the driver’s exam, request the form from Mrs. Adcock EARLY. Please do not ask for the form 5 minutes before you plan to leave school to take the test. PLAN AHEAD

East Lab needs a couple pictures of each senior for the senior video. Therefore, if you would like to be included in this video you must bring your pictures as soon as possible.

The after-school program will be closed Wed—Fri. No buses will be running.

Students if you are absent any time of the day which includes all day, homeroom or just one block you must still fill out an admit slip and bring in a note. In addition, if you are checked during out during the school day you still must bring a note and get an admit slip. If not your absences are recorded as unexcused and you get a zero in your classes. If you have, any questions you need to refer to your student handbook regarding attendance. This policy must be followed as stated in the MHS Handbook.

Lunch forms must be turned in every year. The students on free or reduced lunch last year that has not turned in a lunch form this year, will start paying full price until the forms have been turned in and approved. Students will be allowed to eat and the meal charged to their account. Forms are available in the office and cafeteria.

Senior girls: Information about Arkansas Junior Miss program is available in the counseling center.

Students, you are not allowed on the parking lot at any time unless you have a pass from the office.

Students you are not allowed to drive around the pond before or after school. All high school students must come to school on Old Warren Road. The buses use the route around the pond to drop off students at each school. You must also remember this is a safety issue as well. DO NOT GO AROUND THE POND TO COME TO SCHOOL OR LEAVE SCHOOL!

STUDENTS – ADMIT SLIPS WILL BE ISSUED BEFORE THE FIRST BELL. BE HERE IN TIME.

Students you cannot be dropped off for school on the east side of the building. The only place you are allowed to be dropped off is at the back of the building between the school and the student parking lot. Students you need to understand this is a safety issue! If you drive, a vehicle to school as soon as you get here you must get out of your vehicle, leave the student parking lot, and walk down to the school building. You may not hang out in your vehicle or on the parking lot.

CLUB NEWS:

It’s time to audition for the MHS Mock Trial Team.

Your first step is to join the MHS Speech & Drama Club.

The second step is to pick up the audition material and sign up for an audition time.

Audition scripts will be picked up on Wednesday only from Mrs. Ashcraft.

This year’s civil case is available on the Internet at www.arkbar.com , the Arkansas Bar Association website.

Audition material will not be from this year’s case.

The art club will meet Monday at 11:00 without fail. Please be on time so that we can discuss our fall project and get organized. We have had to reschedule so many times, this meeting Monday is very important.

Congratulations to the MHS Student Congress Delegation!

After 3 days of intense legislative committee and floor debate, our delegation was recognized for many individual achievements:

Excellent ratings for Committee: Brice Pace, Brittany Halley, and Zach Chambliss

Superior ratings for Committee: Jackie Cargile and Natalie Skinner

Excellent ratings for Caucus: Jackie Cargile, Natalie Skinner, and Zach Chambliss

Superior ratings for Caucus: Brittany Halley and Brice Pace

Superior ratings for Parliamentary Procedures: Brice Pace and Natalie Skinner

Our delegation authored 4 legislative bills by the following delegates: Natalie Skinner, Parrish HIcks, Brice Pace, and Jackie Cargile. Bills earned recognition in two primary methods: 1) an independent judge decides which bills are the best and 2) the bills passed by the college senate become Laws of Congress which are forwarded to the Governor and Arkansas Legislators. Brice Pace earned 3rd Place for Best Bill, and Natalie Skinner’s bill passed in the senate with a record-breaking unanimous vote.

Our Best of Delegation was Natalie Skinner.

Our delegation had two of the most memorable pages in our history who were JJ Smith and Thomas Lafever and everyone that worked with them praised them. The Congress Directors for their hard work and cooperative spirit recognized them.

If students are interested in being on next year’s delegation, they should contact Mrs. Ashcraft or Mrs. Armbrust.

SPORTS NEWS:

On Channel 19, they will air the previous week’s football game. It will be on Tuesday and Thursday nights at 7:00pm.
