MHS and Drew Central EAST Labs conduct rural broadband survey
Published by Jeff October 3rd, 2006 in News, Schools.High school students at Monticello and Drew Central High Schools are currently engaged in a survey that will help identify high speed internet access availability and needs in Arkansas. Keturah West is the head of the EAST Lab program at MHS. You may contact her for more information.
RURAL BROADBAND SURVEY: Albert Einstein once said, “In the middle of difficulty lies opportunity.” Your opportunity lies in the completion of this survey. This survey represents significant collaboration among many people, such as the Monticello and Drew Central Environmental and Spatial Technology (EAST) labs, sponsored by the EAST Initiative, the Department of Information Systems (DIS), the University of Arkansas Community College at Hope, the Association for Users of Telecommunications and Information Systems (AUTIS), and others to gather data that will hopefully lead to the entire state of Arkansas having greater access to Broadband or high Speed Internet Service. By providing all of Arkansas with such access, you are not only benefiting yourself, but future generations as well. The great Natural State will advance in technology, develop more productive educational programs, and prosper economically.
This survey primarily asks for information on your current internet access capability; however, we also ask for your home address. We assure you that this information will remain confidential and will only be used for geographical mapping to locate approximately where current internet service is available, where the service is needed and where current broadband/high speed services are available. The survey asks for your zip code plus 4. If you do not currently know your zip+4, you can find it here. This zip+4 code gives more accurate geographical information for the location you provide.
You will need to read the brief information in either the Home Cover Letter (if taking it for your residence) or the Business Cover Letter (if taking it for your business).

You may also take the survey online after getting your 8-digit survey number from the cover letters. View results here.
