Gary Meggs and his Christian inspirational group, the Ezekiel 3:18 Band will be performing at Calvary Baptist Church at 11 a.m. on Sunday, December 16.

Meggs, director of bands at the University of Arkansas at Monticello, and the Ezekiel 3:18 Band recorded their newest CD, “Let’s Go Down to the Church,” with Lamon Records. It was released in February. The first single off the album, “Don’t You Need a Friend,” is now playing nationwide.

The CD is the third for the band, following a Christmas CD that included a Top 10 hit on the Christian charts, “Happy Birthday, Jesus” and #15 “Mama Green” on the Power Source Inspirational Charts.

Other members of the band include Malvern native Ed Grissom on keyboard and piano. Grissom is the director of bands for the Pleasant Grove Independent School District in Texarkana, Texas, and the lead trombonist for the Texarkana Jazz Orchestra.

The other band members are Bill Hickman of Stuttgart on bass, Steve Perkins of Monticello on trumpet, and UAM students Amanda Kenny of Texarkana, Texas, on trumpet; Cody Pierce of Kingsport, Tenn., on trombone; Michael Tucker on trombone; Kasey Earl of Elysian Fields, Texas, on drums; Josh Grant of Crossett on guitar; and Amanda Couch of Pine Bluff on vocals and keyboard.

The band recently performed on TCT Christian Television Network with an estimated viewing audience of 65 million worldwide. Meggs was interviewed by Gary McSpadden, one of the original members of the Gaither Vocal Group.

Meggs and the band have also performed at the CMT Fan Fair in Nashville, Tenn., as well as at numerous churches and concert venues across the United States.
