This is a portion of the MEDC report as it was recently presented to the group by MEDC director Truman Hamilton.

I attended a meeting of the Arkansas Good Roads Council in Little Rock on the 17^th.

Governor Beebe addressed the group along with representatives of the highway department. Transportation is such a vital part of the necessary improvements needed for growth in our area. The retention of our current industry and any major future growth is greatly dependant upon I-530 and I-69.

With current funding sources, only about ¼ of the necessary funds will be available for our state highway system. Our governor is aware of the need for adequate roads to promote industrial growth and I am hopeful he will purpose additional revenue sources.
