MEDC Report—Transportation Forum:

This is a portion of the MEDC report as it was presented to the group by MEDC director Truman Hamilton.

The Southeast Arkansas Cornerstone Coalition conducted a transportation forum at UAM May 15th at 1 p.m.  Some of those in attendance include Carl Rosenbaum, Arkansas Highway Department, Dan Flowers, Director of the Arkansas Highway Department, Kevin McGee, Mississippi Department of Transportation and Vincent Russe Louisiana Department of Transportation. An update was given on what progress is being made and the schedules for I-69 the Great River Bridge, I-69 Connector, I-69 extension study from 278 south to I-20, Highway 425 and Highway 167 improvements in Arkansas and Louisiana and Highway 65 improvements in Arkansas and Mississippi.  A date of interest: the Greenville Bridge should be complete in 2010. Also almost all the right of way for the I-69 connector or I-530 from Pine Bluff to Highway 278 has been secured. Another 23 mile section of this connector is scheduled to be started in 2010. I have a CD of the power point that was used at this forum if you did not make the meeting and would like more information.
