I attended the Southeast Arkansas Regional Intermodal Facility Authority meeting that was held in Monticello April 15, 2008. John Lipton, Chairman announced an upcoming transportation forum to be held at UAM on May 15th. Representatives from The Arkansas Highway Department, The Louisiana Department of Transportation and the Mississippi Department of Transportation are anticipated to attend. In an update by Vincent Hotho with Garver Engineers, The grant application along with the letter from SeaArk Marine has been sent to the AEDC. The GIF grants will not be awarded until after April 30th. Plans and specifications are complete for the roadway and the railroad spur and well as the clearing and grubbing contract. Garver has presented a sketch/concept plan for increasing the discharge capacity of the west sewer plant to the AEDQ. The initial response was good. Hotho also advised that students from UAM have completed surveying the Intermodal Property. He also expects to receive contour and topographical information by April 28th.
