Items of business discussed in the Monticello Economic Development Commission meeting were:

The contract for the Ridgeway Hotel was signed with ADVA, which is the next step in the project to renovate the historic structure.  There have already been around 40 applications for “The Ridgeway”.

The need for more public access computers at the Monticello Library was mentioned.  With so many Monticello troops being stationed in Iraq, the need will be even greater.  The first step in the project will be to see if there is any grant money available.  The “20 for the Future” group will be the leaders on this project.

The Monticello Airport report was next, with news that the new building should be here by March.  It was told that the runway here in longer that in surrounding towns, and the many companies in the area travel to the Monticello Airport for their guests to use.  Also noted, there is an ongoing FAA grant of $150,000 for improvements to the airport.  This money is possible to be saved to use in “larger projects”, as needed.
