MEDC Report-Lake Monticello Dam Meeting
Published by Joe Burgess May 13th, 2008 in MEDC.This is a portion of the MEDC report as it was presented to the group by MEDC director Truman Hamilton.
An inspection of Lake Monticello Dam was made on March 3, 2008 by a representative of The Arkansas Natural Resources Commission. In the follow up report, the commission requested three actions be completed. Monitor erosion at scattered locations on the embankment, removal of trees within the rip-rap downstream of the emergency spillway, and update the Emergency Plan.
Records indicate that no Emergency Action Drill has been conducted since April 29, 2003. These are due on an annual basis. On April 18, 2008 at our office, OEM County Coordinator Bill Horn met with me, Mayor Joe Rogers, County Judge Damon Lampkin, Monticello Police Chief Robert Rosegrant, Monticello Fire Chief Steve Faulkner, Drew County Sheriff Mark Gober, City Engineer Tony Beard, and City Superintendent L.M. Wood. Monticello Fire Chief Steve Faulkner was appointed EAP Coordinator.
Efforts are underway to revise the Emergency Plan.
