May Mayhem coming this Saturday
Published by News Release May 3rd, 2007 in Church.On Saturday May 5, First Assembly of God Church will be hosting May Mayhem. You may be asking yourself what in the world is May Mayhem? May Mayhem is a chance for the entire family to have a day of relaxation and family fun.
The festivities will begin at 3:00 Saturday afternoon. There will be inflatable games for kids, along with carnival-type games. Mud Olympics and a 3-on-3 basketball tournament will also begin at 3:00. A 30X40 foot pit will be in place that will be the site of the Mud Olympics volleyball and obstacle games. Brad Launius is in charge of this event and welcomes any teams that may want to enter. You may contact Brad at 870.723.5761 if you are interested or have questions.
There will also be a motorcycle and car show located on the front parking lot of First Assembly. Anyone wanting to show off their car or bike is welcome to enter by calling 870.367.5483. A Bar-B-Q cook-off as well as a bean cook-off will be held at the back of the parking lot, which will be judged by local dignitaries. The meat will be provided by the church for you to use for the cook-off. Anyone wishing to enter please call 870.367.5483. Among the activities listed above, there will be four-wheeler rides, horse back rides, as well as a dunking booth full of people you know. Please do not forget about the three legged races along with the washer and horse shoe toss.
Beginning at 4:00, Skittles, a candy “wrapper” will hit the stage for the first of three outdoor concerts. Skittles will perform for the kids hits from his latest CD.
From 5:00 to 6:00, there will be a little Southern Gospel concert performed by Captain Smead. Captain has performed across south Arkansas and is sure to be a crowd pleaser. So come on out and bring your lawn chair and enjoy the music along with free refreshments provided by First Assembly.
After everyone has played all day and has stuffed themselves with free food, the Grand Finale will begin at 7:00, featuring Kristy Starling. Kristy, a 22 year-old Oklahoma native, was transformed from college student to up and coming recording artist when she sang on “Today’s Superstar” on NBC’s Today Show. When asked why she sings Christian music she simply says, “Christian music is an expression of who I am and what I believe in.” She stresses, “I guess to me it’s the only thing that I could honestly sing with everything that I am. I don’t think I could sing anything else and really give everything I have.” Kristy will also be singing in the Sunday morning service at First Assembly at 10 a.m.

Kids nothing I am far from a kid and I can’t wait! Kristy Starling is going to be an event we will talk about all summer. No one should miss this. BTW, weather for May 5th, high 87 partly cloudy and NO rain! God is good!
The day was Great,we all had so much fun and enjoyed every minute of May Mayhem, the First Assembly Family really know how to give to this community, The entertainment was awesome and it was a Blessing for the whole family, I hope it becomes an annual event!
