Man Hits Deputy During Crack Cocaine Bust in County

June 30th, 2009 by Joe Burgess

According to Drew County Sheriff Mark Gober, a vehicle was observed by Drew County Sheriff deputies driving in the center of a street in Wilmar. Deputies stopped the vehicle, which was occupied by Rodney Webb, age 34 of Wilmar, and Eric Simmons, age 31 of Faulkner County.Simmons was arrested on an active warrant out of Faulkner County for a probation violation. During a pat-down search of Rodney Webb, it was reported that Webb struck a deputy in the facial area and then attempted to flee. Webb was restrained by other deputies that arrived on scene. As they continued the pat-down search, deputies discovered what is believed to be crack cocaine in his possession.

Webb was transported to the Drew County Detention Facility and booked on charges of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, assaulting an officer, fleeing and resisting arrest. His bond is set at $50,000.

Thanks, keep the drugs away from the youth of our nation any way possible. Our communities need to continue to educate our children on the effects of drugs.

It’s a shame…I went to school with both of them. It’s amazing what happens to some of us who have wonderful parents and still don’t reach our maximum potential. So sad….
