Sophomore quarterback Scott Buisson earned his second Gulf South Conference Offensive Player of the Week award of the season after breaking school and conference records in a 51-48 win over Henderson State on Saturday.

Buisson (5-10, 175, Metairie, La.), also know to the UAM football team as the “magic man,” set a new GSC and UAM single-game record with 640 total offensive yards. The old UAM record of 570 was also set by Buisson in a 48-32 win over Harding during the 2007 season.

On Saturday, he completed 30 of 38 passes for a 79.0 completion percentage with 424 yards and five touchdown tosses. The magic did not stop there. On the ground, he carried the ball 26 times for 216 yards, including two touchdown runs. The rushing total is a 2008 single-game high at both the UAM and GSC levels.

On the first play of the first offensive possession, Buisson took the ball 89 yards for the score, marking the third longest rush in UAM football history.

From there, Buisson went to the air, completing his first 20 pass attempts, tying an NCAA Division II and GSC record.

Buisson led the Weevil offense to 703 total offensive yards, which ranks second for a single-game at UAM and third at the GSC level.
