Local racetrack’s sanction becomes first in state
Published by Jeff February 15th, 2007 in News.Being sanctioned by StormPayRacing.com Weekly Racing Series is nothing to shrug off. It’s a big honor. Monticello Speedway became the first dirt track in Arkansas to receive the nod from the national racing organization. The track is gearing up for their 2007 racing season and will do so under the rulebook of the StormPay.com Dirt Late Model Series.
According to the Storm Pay Racing site,
Monticello Speedway owner Joseph Chapman saw the growing trend of dirt late models powered by the economical GM Performance Crate Engines, and took the lead in Arkansas by signing up for the StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series.
“The StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series sounds like a good program, as it promotes more economical and more competitive racing,” Chapman said. “We will be replacing our super late model division with the crate late model division for 2007. We have a hand full of super late model competitors that are disappointed, but we have a lot more competitors from other divisions that welcome the move.”
Monticello Speedway’s Arkansas location marks the tenth state where the Storm Pay Dirt Late Model Series is run.
The 2007 race season begins March 3 at the Speedway with a car show, play day, and give aways, according to their website.
