Barnes Signs with Phillies

JEREMY DAVID BARNES of Garland Texas, grandson of Bobby & Carolyn Barnes of Monticello, has been drafted by the Philidelphia Phillies on the 2nd day, 11th round of the 2009 MLB First Year Draft.
Barnes signed with the Phillies the following Monday.
He has been assigned to “A” Short Season, Williamsport Crosscutters, and has already played in his first minor league game. The team plans to use Barnes’ skills at shortstop
In completing his Notre Dame career, he rank tied for third all time in triples, fourth in at bats, fifth in RBI,seventh in fielding assists, eight in game started, ninth in games played, 10th in hits, tied for 10th in walks and 12th in doubles.
He is the son of David and Sharon Zabcik Barnes. His maternal grandparents are Calvin and Carol Zabcik of Watson Chapel.
