Get Thin to Win — 2007 is the slogo for Pauline Baptist Church’s weight loss ministry. The contest is a program similar to TV’s “The Biggest Loser.”It all began last year when the church’s pastor, Chad Graves, had a biggest loser competition at the church. The grand prize was a cruise. The winner was determined by percentage of body weight lost. About 35 people signed up and went through the 16 week program. Of those 35, Brandon Hogg and Greg Montgomery took getting healthy to heart. Greg lost 70 pounds, and Brandon lost 50. Since the program started last year, they’ve worked out together every single week.

This year’s emphasis kicks off tonight at 6:30. Everyone who wants to participate will be informed of the requirements (basically, you pay $25, and you must weigh-in at least once per week). The first weigh-in will take place tonight as well.

Leaders of the program, including Hogg and Montgomery will share tips on weight loss (i.e., drink lots of water, eat smaller portions, exercise, etc). Curves for Women will be doing a presentation on how dieting and weight loss effects women. Each person will be encouraged to find a diet and workout program that fits them and their lifestyle the best. Participants will also be encouraged to join up with an accountability partner.

The program will feature bi-weekly prizes, bi-weekly meetings, and email updates to track everyone’s progress by percentage lost.

The program runs from February 1 to May 1. The grand prize is a $500 shopping spree (for a new wardrobe) to the man AND the woman who loses the highest percent of their starting body weight.
