LifeShare Blood Centers will be hosting a blood drive in memory of Sgt. Larry Smith of the Monticello Police Department.
The drive will be held on Friday, August 15th in front of the local Wal-Mart store from 2pm until 7pm.
Sgt. Smith was diagnosed in March with pancreatic cancer and during the course of his treatments did receive multiple units of blood. Sgt. Smith passed away on Monday of this week. A replenishment drive simply replaces blood to the blood bank to assure that it will be available the next time someone needs it.
Sgt. Smith’s friends and family encourage the public to come out and donate in his name.
