Levees Closing to Traffic -Update

Levees on the Arkansas and Mississippi River will be closed to all non-emergency vehicles until further notice, effective Monday. This will include levees in Lincoln, Desha, and Chicot Counties.
Recent heavy rains and increased river flow have caused mudslides on both the Arkansas and Mississippi rivers, which need to be repaired.
The decision to close the levees to vehicle traffic was made by the Corps Of Engineers and levee board.
Hudge Mack Ball has declared a disaster to prepare for a flood event, should it become necessary. The Crest at Greenville is forecast at 60′ on 1/14/2016.
