Kiwanis International, a well known civic organization who’s motto is “Changing Tomorrow Today”, held a recent meeting to meet with local citizens who may be interested in re-forming the group’s Monticello chapter.

18 local residents were present, as well as 8 representing Kiwanis.

The main speaker for the meeting was David Curry, Kawinis International President, who resides in Butte, Montana.

Curry presented the club’s desires, “1. to help children, and 2. to help the economy.”

Curry told the group that Kawanis came from an Indian word meaning “We Build.”

Drew County Judge was in attendance to present the “Arkansas Traveler” award to Curry on behalf of the State of Arkansas.

The meeting was co-ordiated by the chamber of commerce, and Kiwanis information may be found at the Chamber office.
