Kiwanis’ “Bedroom Makeovers” Bring Huge Smiles to Young Faces
March 30th, 2011 by SubmittedMonticello Kiwanis Club completed their second and third bedroom makeovers, recently.

Bedroom makeovers are Kiwanis’ service project. They selected the recipients based on their applications. But the children that were selected had no idea that they are getting a bedroom makeover until the project was complete.
The Kiwanis went to work. They decided to tackle two bedrooms at once; a brother-sister pair that were selected from the applications. They cleaned, patched, and painted the bedroom walls in both bedrooms. They painted both ceilings and one ceiling fan, then installed another.
They cleaned the carpets and added rugs, blinds and curtains to the windows.
New beds were put in each room with all new bedding. They painted one dresser and bought another; then added artwork and other accessories to each room.
The group put in a long, hard, and rewarding day, and finished up around 11 pm Friday night.
When they revealed the rooms the children, were both speechless for a few moments. The brother said, “This is awesome!” and the sister said, “I love it! I just can’t believe it.”
When asked what their favorite thing in their new room was, the brother replied, “my bed “and the sister replied, “the zebra print bedding, but I like it all!” So, after many hugs and lots of tears Kiwanis left the family to enjoy their new rooms. One Kiwanis member said “we all went home tired, but with a job well done!
If you are interested in joining Kiwanis contact Reathel Privett at Union Bank or attend a meeting. We meet the second and fourth Tuesday at 1 pm at Larry’s Pizza!

What a wonderful project!
I would like to take this time to thank the Kiwanis for all the hard work and time they put into the makeover, of my grandchildrens rooms. These children are really enjoying there rooms and still are in awee over them. They are really good kids, and try very hard to make good grades in school. I know they are very thankful too you all because they are still talking about what you all done for them. So thanks again Kiwanis you have been a blessing.
