After picking up four wins and no losses over the past week, senior pitcher Kate Brady has been named the Gulf South Conference West Division Pitcher of the Week for the last week of the 2008 regular season.

Brady (Longview, Texas) went 4-0 and only allowed two runs in almost 23 innings of work. With the four wins, Brady improved her season record to 13-10 and aided the Blossoms to berth in the 2008 GSC Championship Tournament.

In her four appearances, Brady combined to record 10 strikeouts and finished the week with a 0.62 earned run average. Three of Brady’s four wins were complete game shutouts.

The following is a portion of the GSC release announcing Brady’s award:
Arkansas-Monticello pitcher Kate Brady wins the pitching honor for the week. Brady had a big week, picking up four wins as Arkansas-Monticello clinched the four seed in the West Division. The senior threw 22 plus innings, allowing only two earned runs during that span. In a 4-0 win over Henderson State, Brady threw nine innings to defeat the Lady Reddies. She allowed less hits (20) than frames on the hill (22).

Brady and the Blossoms travel to Southaven, Miss. to open play in the 2008 GSC Championship Tournament on Friday, May 2 against Alabama-Huntsville. The first pitch is at noon.
