Intermodal Update – Rail Spur & Water Tower

At this months Intermodal Authority meeting, it was reported that construction of the rail spur has been completed.
An ongoing small project will likely be completed soon, by extending the current contract to get water lines and sewers install beneath the railroad, southward.
It was also reported that the FAA had granted clearance for construction of the water tower, on the east side of the property.
Current costs expected for construction of the water tower range from $2-3 million. This estimate includes funding contributed by the DRA and EDA programs.
It was said, “We don’t know how much this will cost the cities and counties,” then Robert Milton, accountant, estimated “$175,000-$200,000, each.”
John Lipton then replied, “That will be the completion of the project,” and then added, “(Financing the water tank) is a bridge we’re going to have to cross” “to have 354 acres ready to go “.
Before the meeting adjourned, the question of prospective industry was asked, and Lipton responded, “an industry has already paid earnest money”, “but we just don’t know.”
